Newsfeed is about delivering the right content to the right people at the right time so they don’t miss the stories that are important and relevant to them. For years marketers have been spamming our newsfeed with texts like “share and like this post!”. No more.
Facebook announced last night that they are updating their algorithm so that three types of spammy posts will be punished (by less reach) in the newsfeed.
Like-baiting – Stop asking your audience to share, like or comment. Earn it.
Using the same content again and again – Don’t use the same content over and over again. Be creative.
Spammy links – Don’t spread links with false promises. Meaning: set the expectations correctly when you tell people what a link is about.
So to sum it all up.
Create original, awesome content. Earn your reach. And be nice.
